In news of the worst kind possible, West Point Cadet and Army football player Brandon Jackson was killed in a car accident last night. His death comes hours after the Army team started the season 2-0 for the first time since 1996, defeating Rice 31-14 in the home opener at Michie Stadium.

Jackson started as a true freshman at cornerback. He had three interceptions to his name, and was instrumental in Army’s ability to shut down the leading passer in Temple history in the season opener.

Well done, Cadet Jackson. Be thou at peace.
